About Us

Two families. One devastating disease. Millions of unanswered questions.

It was March 2020. The world was shutting down, families were isolating, and two women — both caregivers, both mothers to young children, both navigating life alongside Frontotemporal Dementia — were living parallel lives thousands of miles apart. As COVID overtook the news, Maria turned to social media, sharing her experience as a care partner to her mother, Lia. As she scrolled through the growing FTD community — hashtags, stories, posts filled with heartbreak and hope — one question kept surfacing:

How can I help? How can I use my voice to support more than just my own story?

That night, she turned to her husband, Mike, and said the words that would change everything:
“I think I want to start a podcast.”

Maria invited her community to share their FTD stories. Rachael, living across the country, immediately responded — ready to speak about her father, Frank, and the journey their family was walking. They met on Zoom, strangers at first, and quickly realized they were living strikingly similar lives. Different details, same heartbreak. Different paths, same devotion. The connection was instant, natural, and deeply human — and soon after, Maria asked Rachael to become a co-host.

Remember Me was born — and with it, a partnership rooted in shared experience, trust, and purpose.

On August 3, 2020, the first episode, “Frank,” was released. Lia’s story followed the week after. Since then, Remember Me has grown into a living archive of love, loss, caregiving, and truth — with over 150 episodes recorded, participation in research initiatives, conference stages, and a community that continues to expand beyond anything they first imagined. Both women have since said goodbye to their parents — Lia and Frank passing just one month and one day apart.

Five years later, the story continues — now in the form of the Remember Me Foundation.

“This foundation is a continuation of our parents’ legacy, and a commitment to the community that has grown around this work. It exists to do more, reach further, and build something lasting for caregivers, care partners, and families walking the long road of dementia — together.”
